Mentorship, Diversity, and Higher Education

In this episode, we change things up and speak with Dave A. Louis, PhD. Dave Louis is not only a professor of higher education at the University of Houston, but also Dr. Johnson’s cousin. While healthcare isn’t Professor Louis’ field, his expertise in higher education makes him an excellent expert to discuss mentorship and developing the next generation of clinicians. We discuss mentoring in underserved communities, the challenges in educational institutions because of social capital, and crossing generational chasms to build mentor-mentee relationships.
