Sound Physicians Welcomes National Clinical Advisor

National Clinical Advisor to Drive Clinical Outcomes for Sound Physicians’ Advisory Services

Tacoma, Wash. – July 20, 2017 – Sound Physicians announced that Simon Ahtaridis, MD, MPH has joined the organization as National Clinical Advisor and Chief Medical Officer for Sound Physicians’ Advisory Services. In this role, he is responsible for the overall performance of Sound Physicians’ onsite and remote advisory services programs at partner hospitals. Dr. Ahtaridis will play a critical role in promoting Milliman Care Guidelines’ and McKesson’s InterQual standards of care while maintaining appropriate clinical documentation. He serves as the domain expert in the area of clinical documentation and utilization management in partnership with case management, medical staff, nursing staff, and hospital administration in the delivery of physician advisory services.

Most recently, Dr. Ahtaridis served as Chief Medical Officer for Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, focusing on developing the physician advisory practice. He first joined Mercy Medical Center in 2011 as their Chief of Hospitalist Services and was later promoted to Chief of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Ahtaridis received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency training at Cambridge Health Alliance. He holds a Master’s in Public Health from the John Hopkins School of Public Health. During medical school, he was legislative affairs director for the American Medical Student Association in Washington, D.C. Dr. Ahtaridis has also served as an instructor in medicine at the Harvard Medical School and University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
