Leading health care organization expands services within Mercy Health – Cincinnati

TACOMA, WA, November 5, 2015  — Sound Physicians, a health care organization focused on improving quality and lowering cost throughout the acute episode of care, announced today an agreement to provide hospitalist services for Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital in Fairfield, OH.

Fairfield Hospital is a 229-bed award-winning hospital offering care to the rapidly growing northern suburbs of Cincinnati. Fairfield Hospital is a Magnet hospital. Truven Health Analytics has named it one of the 100 Top Hospitals and one of the 50 Top Heart Hospitals in the country and Becker’s Hospital Review named it one of the country’s 100 Great Community Hospitals. Part of Mercy Health – Cincinnati, Fairfield Hospital is the sixth Mercy Health hospital with which Sound Physicians has partnered.

“We are proud to partner with Fairfield Hospital, which has shown tremendous dedication to excellence in care,” said Robert Bessler, M.D., chief executive officer of Sound Physicians. “We look forward to working with the hospital to introduce our proven workflows and infrastructure to better serve the community.”

Fairfield Hospital Vice President of Medical Affairs, John Kennedy, M.D., said, “We chose Sound Physicians to provide our hospitalist services because we believe it will provide our patients with the highest caliber of care. Sound Physicians has shown demonstrable improvements at other hospitals within Mercy Health’s network of care and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together at Fairfield Hospital.”

Hospitalists provide in-house coverage for inpatients. They work closely with referring physicians and Emergency Department doctors to care for patients who need to be admitted. Hospitalists are the attending doctors for inpatient care and they refer patients to specialists as needed and also keep in close contact with the patient’s primary care provider, as appropriate, so the provider is kept up-to-date on the status of his or her patient.

Sound Physicians will recruit a team of 15 physicians and four nurse practitioners for Fairfield Hospital. Working with hospital leaders, Sound Physicians will introduce its SoundConnect workflow and communication platform to drive better patient outcomes and foster effective care team communication. Sound Physicians’ vision is to be the leader in improving quality and lowering the cost of care for patients in the communities it serves.
