Sound Physicians Appoints Ikechukwu Umezurike, M.D., as Chief Hospitalist at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital

Dr. Umezurike to lead one of Sounds Physicians’ largest hospitalist teams

TACOMA, WA, September 16, 2015 — Sound Physicians, a physician-founded and led organization with more than 2,000 physicians in more than 300 hospitals and post-acute facilities across the U.S., announced the appointment today of Ikechukwu Umezurike, M.D., as the new Chief Hospitalist for Trinity Mother Frances Hospital. In his new role as Chief Hospitalist, Dr. Umezurike leads a team of more than 40 clinicians and works with Sound Physicians’ providers, a regional medical director, vice president of operations, program manager, hospitalist coordinators and hospitalist nurses.

As the on site leader, Dr. Umezurike is charged with fulfilling Sound’s vision to improve quality and lower the cost of care for patients in the community. Most recently, Dr. Umezurike served as the interim chief hospitalist at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He is board certified in internal medicine and has been practicing hospital medicine for more than eight years. Dr. Umezurike’s previous positions include assistant professor at Texas Tech University, hospitalist and medical director at Covenant Medical Center’s hospitalist program in Lubbock, Texas.
