Sound Physicians donates 2,500 hygiene kits to Denver Rescue Mission
Tacoma, Wash. – May 21, 2014 – Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, assembled 2,500 repurposed hygiene kits to donate to the Denver Rescue Mission.
As part of an annual National Leadership Conference, Sound Physicians coordinated a Geoteaming GeoClean team building event where teams compete to build hygiene kits with the highest accuracy and fastest time. Each hygiene kit contains nine life-saving items that were donated from various hotels, including the Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel where the conference was held. The items are collected from an award winning non-profit, Clean The World, which is the largest recycler of hotel amenities in the world. Each hygiene kit includes:
- A bar of soap
- Bottled shampoo
- Bottled conditioner
- Bottled lotion
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Disposable razor
- Wash cloth
- An inspirational note card
“The GeoClean event reinforces two of our core values of service and teamwork. We saw this event as an opportunity to work on team building while also giving back to the Denver community,” said Rob Bessler, MD, Chief Executive Officer. “All of our leaders are dedicated to caring for acutely ill patients in the communities we serve every day. It’s gratifying to know that through our efforts the Denver Rescue Mission will be able to help those with basic needs immediately.”
“Something as simple as a bar of soap or a toothbrush can make a huge difference, which is why we are grateful to Sound Physicians for their efforts in putting together hygiene kits for the homeless. These kits truly help restore dignity to the men and women we serve every day.” Brad Meuli, President/CEO, Denver Rescue Mission.
The Denver Rescue Mission is the oldest, full-service Christian charity in the Rocky Mountain region.
