Sound Physicians Expands Acute Episode of Care with Emergency Medicine Services
Leading healthcare organization partners with hospitals to drive improvements in quality from Emergency Medicine to Post-Acute Care
Tacoma, Wash. – June 30, 2016– Sound Physicians, a leading healthcare organization focused on improving quality and lowering cost throughout the acute episode of care, announced an agreement to provide emergency medicine services for hospitals in Tennessee, Mississippi, and West Virginia.
Sound Physicians is the exclusive emergency medicine provider for Methodist Healthcare, with emergency medicine services in Methodist North, South, University, Olive Branch, and Germantown hospitals in Tennessee and Mississippi, as well as Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia. This new agreement covers more than 350,000 emergency visits annually.
“We are committed to improving quality and lowering the cost of care for patients in the communities we serve,” said Rob Bessler, M.D., chief executive officer of Sound Physicians. “With a sharp focus on the entire acute episode of care — from the time the patient enters the emergency department, driving hospitalist and intensivist performance, and providing continuity into the post-discharge period — we can make a meaningful impact in outcomes for both our patients and partners.”
“We chose to partner with Sound Physicians for their reputation of quality care and their focus on transitions of care from the emergency department to inpatient admissions,” said Brian L. Ulery, chief operating officer for Thomas Memorial Hospital. “Sound Physicians has been our hospitalist provider since early 2015 and we have been very pleased with their ability to put focus on improving quality and improving our efficiency in this relatively short period of time. By adding the emergency service, we can better optimize the acute episode of care by improving care transitions and quality outcomes from the point of admission.”
